Course description
The course is organised by the Global Methane Genetics initiative and the WIAS Graduation School. The focus is on genetic analysis of methane phenotypes from the different devices and how inferences can be drawn for genetic improvement. Lectures and hands-on practicals will be centred around the following themes:
- Methane phenotyping devices
- Processing raw data from into different methane trait definitions
- Estimation of genetic parameters and genetic models
- Prediction genetic progress and breeding goal definition
Approach: Each half day (mornings and afternoons) will contain one block of lectures, teaching the background and theory, and one block of hands-on training. The hands-on training will be using datasets that will be made available during the course.
